Sorry to harp on the corn sugar thing, but it's very unhealthy and people just don't know about how bad it is for us.

Food manufacturers have replaced old-fashioned sugar with corn syrup BECAUSE it's so cheap. And it's so cheap because there's so much of it.

How ironic that so much water goes into making Coke, when the reason why people usually drink Coke is because they don't like water (too blah they say). Since the recipe for Coke is basically water, sugar, and dye (and not necessarily in that order), then less water means what? More sugar and dye! Yummy in my tummy! And the final irony of this all? Ever notice how eating something very salty or sweet makes you thirsty? Well, sugar (like salt) depletes the cells in our bodies of water, and since we're made up of 70% water, drinking the Coke with less water and more sugar will make us...even more thirsty. A win/win for Coke.

The first two things on my "Everything I Need to Know About Life I Learned in Chemistry" poster:

How to make Coke (or rust cleaner, as my chem teacher used to call it)

What salt and sugar does to a plant cell (under a microscopic view)

P.S.
By the way, corn syrup is one of the big ingredients in Coke, so this relates back to my comment about why we're in no danger of a corn shortage. Corn is so abundant that they give it away practically for free. Check the labels of your food (if you shop at a regular grocery store). I guarantee you corn syrup will be in the top 5 ingredients at least 90% of the time.
